Rachel Komroff is currently pursuing two Bachelor’s degrees: a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology here at UM and anticipates receiving her degrees in Spring 2020. Rachel is a clarinetist by trade and has been playing since 2010. Additionally, she sings, plays the guitar, piano and ukulele. She is a South Florida native, hailing from Coral Springs, FL. Rachel hopes to pursue a music therapy and psychology/counseling career in pediatric medicine, as her love and passion have always been for working with children. Rachel has had clinical experiences working with toddlers with developmental delays at the Debbie Institute, part of the Mailman Center for Child Development, with children with a variety of medical diagnoses at Holtz Children’s Hospital, with older adults with dementia and varying mental health diagnoses at the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center and recently spent summer 2019 working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the Cadenza Center for Psychotherapy and the Arts. Rachel also performs on the clarinet frequently and provides private lessons to children of all ages. She has held the position of principal clarinetist in the Frost Symphonic Winds and sat as principal clarinetist in the Florida Youth Orchestra during her high school years. Rachel began teaching for Little Canes in 2018 and is happy to begin her second year with this amazing organization. She is lucky to have been given the opportunity to connect with these amazing children and hopes to share her love for music with all around her in the exciting environment that is Little Canes!
